So the theory is this. All viruses, bacteria, and other sicknesses in Europe are slightly different from those in America. The symptoms are the same, but your immune system has no idea what to do.
Once one person gets the common cold, it then spreads throughout all international students. Before you know it, everyone is sick and in bed all day. This is why it is so concerning that a flatmate was recently diagnosed with broncitus. Dispite shunning him from all activities, I am started to believe it is inevitable that we will all come down with broncitus (although that hasn’t happened yet).
Anyway, yesterday I came down with my fifth sickness in two months. Not exactly sure what it is, just had a sore throat and didn’t really feel like getting out of bed. But I figured dedicating a day to bed rest, drinking orange juice, and eating soup, things would get better. But this morning I learned that is not the case. This morning my sore throat was exponentially worse. So I felt it wise to make an appointment to see a doctor to make sure it isn’t something serious. At least I don’t THINK it is broncitus. But we will find out this afternoon. I am hoping it will just be something that will go away in a day or two, and no Mad Cow. Although that would be something to write home about!
And at the very least it will finally be an opportunity to use one of my many health insurance policies that were manditory (on top of my existing full coverage)… dispite the fact that they have universal health care over hear so health insurance isn’t required. Unless surgery is involved. Which would be another thing to write home about.
[UPDATE] Turns out it was “just” a chest infection. So now I am on a nice cocktail of Tylenol, Sudafed, Ibuprofen, and Amoxicillin.
