What is this? An update?!?
In the first of this semester’s Napier International Student Club trips, we had a guided bus tour of the eastern Fife county.
[Side note: I just realized that the pizza I am presently eating (and just got out of the oven) is covered in mold. I already ate about 40% of it) Excuse me for a minute...]
Ok, I am back. Yuck. Still not running for the bathroom, lets hope it stays that way!
Trip Over
We left Merchiston Campus around 9:30am, shortly after my second Starbucks run yet. It was a pretty nice coach bus. We took the long way out of the city while the guide was explaining the history et al. We left Edinburgh and crossed the bridge into Fife…
Dunfermline Abbey
We stopped in Dunfermline to take a look at an ancient Abbey… very cool.
Falkland
I don’t remember much about what was said about this place (it was early…) besides that a king died in the castle here and there isn’t a Starbucks (unlike our other destinations). I know I am a horrible history student. However, there is a bakery here “The Wee Bakery” which makes AWESOME chicken pies (think chicken + cream of mushroom soup - mushrooms + puff pastery)…
St. Andrews
The main feature of our tour, St. Andrews is largely a college town. It has two universities, cathedrals, golf courses, and of course a beach! My very first time being on a non-West Coast USA beach. Noticiably different. We ate lunch here… I had apple pie! (I just said I had a chicken pie at our last stop!) It was really good but really over priced (4.25 pounds for a skinny slice… thats like $9 American!)
Anstruther
Our final stop was the small fishing village “Anstruther”. We paid 20p to use the public toilets, and bought coffee. Had a few laughs, and got back on the bus. But it was really foggy and that made it pretty creepy.
Bus Ride Home
We saw a trailer park! Not all is fancy-spancy European after all!
I took over 200 more pictures which are all now available on my Flickr page…
[And if you wanted more information about the mold dilemma, it was covered in spicey chicken, which covered up the very moldy cheese below... in fun green and white varieties.... alas still not sick... things are looking promising...]
PS… Let it be known that I want a $ on my tombstone as well…
